ARTISTRY FOR DIFFERENT EYE SHAPES

Model holding Merle Norman eye shadow compact near eye.

All eyes have their own unique shape, and they are all beautiful. Use our makeup tips and tutorials to create a more balanced looking eye for your specific shape.

HOODED

Use matte, neutral, mid-toned shadow to help create the illusion of a crease on this eye shape. Open the eye area by adding light, shimmery shadow to the inner corners.

Shown:
1. Soft Touch Shadow Float
2. Knockout Nudes Rose Quartz

VANISHING / MONOLID

For these eye types, apply medium to dark shadow along the lash line. Blend the eyeshadow on the lid, keeping the intensity along the lash line. Apply lighter eye shadow to the inner corners. For winged looks, a thicker wing is more dramatic.

Shown:
1. Soft Touch Shadow Float
2. Knockout Nudes Rose Quartz
3. Soft Touch Eye Pencil Earthy

ROUND

For a round eye shape, apply light to medium shadow across the lid. Follow this with a darker shadow at the outer corner. Apply eyeliner to the upper lash line, making the line slightly thicker at the outer corner.

Shown:
1. Soft Touch Shadow Rich
2. Soft Touch Shadow Romance
3. Soft Touch Eye Pencil Blackout

UPTURNED EYES

Apply a lighter-toned shadow to the inner half of the lid. Finish this eye makeup look by applying liner to the outer corner of the upper and lower lash lines to draw the eye down at the outer corners.

Shown:
1. Soft Touch Shadow Periwinkle
2. Knockout Nudes Gold Star
3. Soft Touch Eye Pencil Navy

DOWNTURNED EYES

Sweep on a matte eyeshadow shade just above the orbital bone, blending it up toward the outer corner of the brow to create a sense of lift for this type of eye.

Shown:
1. Soft Touch Shadow Fuzzy
2. Knockout Nudes Silver Petal

DEEP SET

For a deep-set eye, add a light, shimmery shade to the lid. This will help pull deep-set eyes forward. Apply a deeper shadow to the outer corner, bringing it up into your crease.

Shown:
1. Soft Touch Shadow Spark
2. Soft Touch Shadow Fuzzy
3. Soft Touch Eye Pencil Royalty
4. Soft Touch Shadow Dive

CLOSE SET

This is essentially the opposite of a deep-set eye. Use a light or bright shade on the inner corner and extend the eyeshadow to the middle of the eyelid. Working outward, apply a light-medium shade, then a darker shade on the outer corner.

Shown:
1. Knockout Nudes 2 Velvet Plum
2. Soft Touch Shadow Romance
3. Shadow Stick Mystic

WIDE SET

Apply a darker color to the inner corner, fading it towards the outer corner while blending to give this type of eyes the illusion of having less space between them.

Shown:
1. Soft Touch Shadow Spark
2. Knockout Nudes Caramel
3. Soft Touch Eye Pencil Teak
