Making Beauty Personal

Primer Isn’t Optional

A retro television-themed graphic showcases three Merle Norman primers in separate panels labeled as different TV channels. Channel 1 features Foundation Primer Plus SPF 15, Channel 2 features Eye Shadow Primer, and Channel 3 features Mascara Primer. The headline reads "Prime Time," with the tagline "Three Primers. Three Jobs. One Beautiful Result." A banner at the bottom states, "Every great makeup look starts here."

Most people think of primer as an optional step.

I don't!!

In fact, I believe primer is one of the most important steps in any makeup routine.

Why?

Because great makeup doesn't begin with foundation, eyeshadow, or mascara.

It begins with creating the perfect canvas.

Many people think of primer as a single product, but there are actually three different primers—each designed to do a very specific job. When used together, they help your makeup look better, wear longer, and perform the way it was intended.

Foundation Primer: The Perfect Canvas

Foundation primer is applied after your skincare and before your foundation.

Think of it as smoothing the road before driving on it.

It helps minimize the appearance of:

  • Fine lines
  • Wrinkles
  • Enlarged pores
  • Uneven skin texture

Foundation primer also helps your makeup glide on more smoothly while extending its wear throughout the day. Instead of settling into imperfections or fading prematurely, foundation has a smoother surface to adhere to, helping your makeup stay fresh from morning until night.

It’s a small step that makes a big difference.

Eyeshadow Primer: Lock In the Look

If you’ve ever applied beautiful eyeshadow in the morning only to find it faded or creased by lunchtime, chances are you’re missing one important step.

Eyeshadow primer.

This lightweight primer creates the ideal base for eye makeup by helping eyeshadows appear more vibrant, more color-true, and more even.

Even better, it acts like a magnet, helping hold eyeshadow to the eyelid for longer-lasting wear.

Once applied over primer, virtually any eyeshadow becomes:

  • More water-resistant
  • More oil-resistant
  • More crease-resistant

The result is richer color and eye makeup that stays looking fresh throughout the day.

Mascara Primer: Bigger, Better Lashes

Mascara primer is often one of the most overlooked products in makeup.

It shouldn’t be.

Applied before mascara, it lifts and defines each lash while creating a flexible bond that magnifies the results of your mascara.

The result?

  • More lift
  • Better definition
  • Fuller-looking lashes
  • Longer-looking lashes

It gives your mascara something to grip onto, helping maximize the performance of the mascara you already love.

Three Primers. Three Different Jobs.

One of the biggest misconceptions is that primer is a one-size-fits-all product.

It’s not.

Each primer has a completely different purpose.

Foundation primer prepares your skin.

Eyeshadow primer prepares your eyelids.

Mascara primer prepares your lashes.

Together, they create the perfect foundation for beautiful, longer-lasting makeup.

The Bottom Line....

Professional makeup artists know that beautiful makeup starts long before the color products are applied.

Preparation is everything.

By using the right primer in the right place, you'll enjoy smoother foundation, more vibrant eye makeup, and fuller-looking lashes that last longer throughout the day.

Foundation Primer. Eyeshadow Primer. Mascara Primer.

Three primers. Three jobs. One beautiful result.

It really is Prime Time.
